LIFE STORIES
Dear readers, allow us to present You another one from our Cycle of stories which really happened. Now, we hope you enjoy third of our stories.
Servants of the Lord
It was nearing midnight and a few people were waiting on a tram platform. Two of them, man and woman, were returning from a business meeting which had been stretched a little, so instead of travelling on bus, which always transported them home faster, they decided to go by tram for this time. Neither of them doubted correctness of this decision because the gentle inner voice of the woman saying it had to be this way was familiar to both of them. Following minutes proved it...
People waiting on the platform were joined by two drunk young men. Finally, the tram arrived, and they all got into the rear wagon. The drunk men sat down with a big fuss, seven seats before our couple. They tried with the most effort to draw attention to themelves, and they really did succeed. Their noise and vulgar speech were not ceasing, but, quite the contrary, growing stronger. The man and the woman started praying for them earnestly and sincerely. The other people sat at their places and you could feel very ugly thoughts and emotions coming from them. From disgust and contempt to rudeness and aggresivity, but nobody told them anything, nobody even admonished them. The shouting was becoming really unbearable.
You could see a servant of the Lord rising from her seat and coming with an utter serenity to the young men. She, with a special glow and goodness of Jesus' heart, put her hand lovingly on the shoulder of the man who was the noisest and told him:
"Good evening, sir, please don't be angry that I've allowed myself to address you but may I ask you something?"
The addressed man had turned on his seat and sunk to his seat almost half-lying so that to be turned with his cheek to the face that was watching him from above. Even that he tried to show an ironic smirk or aggresivity, he did not manage to do any of these, something did not allow him to be anything else than open. He said, his facial expression half-astonished, half-beatifical.
"Well, try me!"
You could physically see his pupils expanding and he was literally absorbing the Love of our Lord which was in such a rich amount flowing to him through one of His servants... and he was hungrily waiting for an answer.
"Sir, I would like to ask you, from the sincerity of my heart, not to shout so much. Thank you."
Warm hand had slided softly from the young man's shoulder and a kind, saintly look that followed convinced both young men about the sincerity that did not claim to judge nor chasten their behaviour.
It was told:
"I'm sorry, we have drunk, maybe too much, you know... we are college students... and we usually don't drink that much... but when you asked us so nicely...," they tried to form some sort of apology.
The answer was:
"Thank you, I believe you. Goodbye."
A silence reigned then on the tram, a sort of silence in which much could happen. For everybody involved.

Let us consider now, every person for themself, what would happen if we intervened in our own way. Every situation is different, with different people, so it needs a different approach. When we rely only on our brain, we often cannot assess the suitability of our approch, and then from a situation like this something ugly may grow, something what we wanted to prevent happening at first. But people who can open themselves to the Divine Power in the moment of their conscious decision to act, these people may become a tool in His hands by this. An intermediary through whom it can really be given a helping hand, because what he or she does, he or she does not on their own, but under the guidance of an exalted wisdom and love.
Jesus said:
"Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."
It is easy to meet if the other person is nice and congenial, but how easy it is to fall into expressions of reluctance, condemnation and dislike when we witness undignified and immoral behaviour of others...
A story based upon a true Event.
By narration of E.M.T., redorded by P.Š.
Editor's note:
This story is not a universal key how to behave in situation like this. It is not always clear to what extent is the behaviour of a person affected by alcohol aggressive... But a silent prayer will always be helpful.
